McDonald and Romantic Warrior reunite for Champions Day

Renowned jockey James McDonald has been booked to ride in all three Group 1s at the upcoming Champions Day meeting in Hong Kong on April 30. McDonald will be partnering with three top contenders, including a reunion with Hong Kong’s top middle-distance galloper and defending champion, Romantic Warrior, in the G1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup.

Alongside Romantic Warrior, McDonald will also be riding Aegon in the G1 Champions Mile and Sight Success in the G1 Chairman’s Sprint Prize.

McDonald has a proven track record with Romantic Warrior, having ridden him to victory in the G2 Jockey Club Cup and the G1 Hong Kong Cup last December.

Along with his three Group 1 rides, McDonald will also be riding three horses on the undercard – Fantastic Treasure, Romantic Charm, and Super Contented.

After completing the Rosehill program on April 29, McDonald will fly to Hong Kong to compete at the prestigious Champions Day meeting.
