Mets’ search for Sandy Alderson’s replacement gets jumpstart with big front office news (UPDATE)

Sandy Alderson will be stepping down as president of the New York Mets once the search for his replacement is complete.

David Stearns steps down as head of baseball operations for the Brewers. Matt Arnold will take his place. Sterens will be a consultant for Milwaukee ownership. He is under contract for one more year.

David Stearns will stay in his role as general manager of the Milwaukee Brewers. He will help with the transition after Sandy Alderson's departure.

Stearns was also linked to the Mets last October. Mark Attanasio and Stearn knew this day could eventually come. Sterens and Attanaio wanted the transition to take place while the organization is in a healthy position.
