Mets vs. Giants prediction and odds for Sunday, April 23 (Take Mets in projected coin flip)

The San Francisco Giants and New York Mets wrap up a weekend series in the Bay Area on Sunday Night Baseball.

The Mets took the first two of this four game set against the Giants by a combined score of 16-4, but couldn't get on track in a 7-4 loss to San Francisco on Saturday. The team will look to improve to 15-8 with Tylor Megill on the mound against hte 7-13 Giants, who will counter with Ross Stripling.

Here are the odds and our best bet on Sunday's night cap.

Megill has been a steady piece of a Mets pitching staff that has had to battle injuries early in the year, posting a 3.00 ERA through four starts. I fancy this matchup for him as well with the Giants inability to put the ball in play as they are 21st in batting average and striking out at the highest percentage in the big leagues.

I think the Giants offense will struggle, and it's going to be tough for Stripling to contain the Mets lineup.

The right hander has an ERA of 7.30 and his FIP is even worse at 8.79 as he has allowed seven home runs in four starts. Factor in that the Mets are crushing at the plate right now, Pete Alonso leads Major League Baseball with 10 home runs and 23 runs batted in, and I believe the Amazin's can have a big offensive outing on Sunday night.

I think New York has the edge on the mound and at the plate, so I'll take them in a near coin flip agains the Giants to keep the hot streak going.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
