Braves vs Mets Prediction

The New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves will meet in Queens for their divisional series finale this Sunday from Citi Field on ESPN. Atlanta took game three after pulling away late, 6-0.

Braves Preview & Projected Starter

Atlanta moved to 75-41 after defeating New York. The Braves put it on their division foes once again in game three, and they’ll look to get the brooms out here. The Atlanta offense is scoring 3.83 runs per game, while batting .270, with a .339 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.67 ERA, with a 1.26 WHIP.

Yonny Chirinos (5-4, 4.83 ERA, 44 Ks) will get the start for Atlanta. The fifth-year pitcher struggled in Pittsburgh last week, giving up six runs in five innings to the Pirates. Chirinos has been a mixed back all season between time in Tampa and Atlanta, and he’ll look to hold his own in Queens this Sunday.

Braves Player Trends & Props

Ronald Acuna Jr. has plated a run in four of the last five games, and he’s leading Atlanta in batting (.339) and hits (149), with 25 HR and 67 RBI.

Matt Olson has been on a tear, and after producing a run in eleven straight games, he leads the NL in home runs (39) and RBI (99).

Ozzie Albies homered in the game one loss, and he’s posting splits of .266/22/66.

Austin Riley has recorded a hit in eleven of the previous twelve games, and he’s posting an identical line of .272/26/68.

Mets Preview & Projected Starter

New York moved to 52-65 after falling to Atlanta. The Mets have been pushed around and bullied this weekend, and it’s unsure if they’ll even show up this Sunday. The New York offense is scoring 3.98 runs per game, while batting .238, with a .318 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.39 ERA, with a 1.35 WHIP.

Kodai Senga (8-6, 3.24 ERA, 142 Ks) will take the mound for New York. The rookie right-hander delivered a quality start in his bout with the Chicago last week, striking out six thru six innings pitched, while holding them to two runs en route to his eighth win. Senga is the last outlaw remaining from the Mets former big three atop their rotation, and ATL shouldn’t take him lightly here.

Mets Player Trends & Props

Pete Alonso leads the Mets in home runs (33) and RBI (83).

Francisco Lindor has recorded a hit in six of the last ten games, and he’s second on the team with 22 homers and 69 RBI.

Brandon Nimmo is hitless in his last two contests, but he still leads NYM in batting (.254) and hits (104), with 15 HR and 47 RBI.

Jeff McNeil has reached base in six of the last eight games, and he’s right behind Nimmo for the team-lead in batting at .253.

Corey’s Free Pick

Kodai Senga’s presence actually gives the Mets a chance to win this game, but the way they’ve been bullied and handled by the Braves has been embarrassing, and tough to watch. I’d love to see some fight back from the boys in Queens here, but it looks like all of the motivation has been sucked out of the clubhouse. There’s good value on the Braves here due to the pitching matchup, and after outscoring the Mets 34-3 over the last three days, let’s sway with them again here in primetime.
