Miami Hurricanes-Temple Owls: Odds, TV, predictions, preview

Miami (3-0) at Temple (2-1), Saturday, 3:30 p.m., ESPN2

Dave Hyde, Sports Columnist: Miami 34, Temple 13

Mario Cristobal gets to build off the first signature win (Texas A&M) and a chance to get everything set for coming ACC play. Temple presents a good opponent for that. But Miami should have no problem improving to 4-0 against an Owls team that suffered a 29-point road loss to Rutgers two weeks ago. After playing Temple, Miami will face much tougher opponents in Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Clemson.

The Hurricanes’ first road game of the year should not be Miami’s toughest. The Owls are 2-1 but their victories were a narrow win over Akron and a big win over FCS Norfolk State. The loss was a 29-point defeat to Rutgers. The Hurricanes are the toughest team on Temple’s schedule, and they should cruise to a win over their former Big East rivals.

The 3-0 Hurricanes play another lesser opponent on Saturday against the Temple Owls. UM dominated Miami (Ohio) and Bethune-Cookman at Hard Rock Stadium and play another team they should have no problem trouncing. The Hurricanes are huge favorites at Temple in their first road game of the season. The only real question is whether they will cover the 23 1/2-point spread.
