Miami Marlins at Atlanta Braves 4/27/23

The Thursday MLB schedule will get underway with a matinee between the Miami Marlins and the Atlanta Braves from Truist Park. The Marlins (12-13) have struggled to score runs and are looking to snap a four-game losing streak. Last night, Miami managed just five hits during a 6-4 road loss against Atlanta. Avisail Garcia, Jesus Sanchez, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. all hit solo shots in a losing effort for the Marlins.

Twenty-five year old lefty Braxton Garrett (1-0 2.84 ERA) will make his fourth start of the season. The Marlins have won Garrett’s previous three starts and he has allowed just two runs over his last ten plus frames.

The Atlanta Braves have won three straight games and are the betting favorite to win represent the National League in the World Series. On Wednesday, Atlanta rallied for four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to earn the win. OF Eddie Rosario tied the game with an RBI triple and scored the winning run on a Vaughn Grissom single. Matt Olson and Ronald Acuna Jr. each went deep for the Braves (17-8), who lead the NL East Division by 2.5 games.

The Braves will turn to twenty-seven year old righty Kyle Wright (0-1 5.93 ERA) in the series finale. Last time out, Wright gave up seven hits and four runs (3 ER) in five innings during a 6-3 home loss versus Houston.
