The wait for Michigan football fans is finally over. At least it will be in a few hours time as the Wolverines will host East Carolina for their Maize Out game at 12 PM EST.

Michigan fans haven’t seen their team on the field since December 31st, in the Fiesta Bowl, and after an offseason of hype and talk about winning the national championship, the Wolverines will finally step onto the field for the first time.

Awaiting Michigan football is upset-minded East Carolina. The Pirates were 8-5 a season ago and have established a winning program under fifth-year head coach Mike Houston.

The Pirates did graduate their starting quarterback, top two running backs, their leading receiver, and more from last year’s team, but former four-star recruit Mason Garcia is expected to get the start at quarterback.

We know J.J. McCarthy will start for Michigan football. There are some questions about who will start in the secondary for the Wolverines, as the safeties and corners are dealing with some injuries. Tyler Morris is also a guy that’s questionable for the game.

East Carolina is a decent opponent, but this is a really good Michigan football team and I don’t think the Wolverines will overlook the Pirates at all. They’ll be motivated to play for their head coach Jim Harbaugh, who won’t be on the sidelines.
