Miguel Andujar speaks out on Yankees, fresh start before Pirates debut

Andujar is happy to be in Pittsburgh. He put up good numbers as a rookie in 2018. The Yankees ignored his requests for a trade for two years.

Miguel Andujar was claimed off waivers on Sunday. He was playing for the Pirates in Monday's 8-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds. And ujar will play in left field and maybe first base. The Pirates want to get a look at him before the season ends. In 2018, AndUjar finished second in the American League Rookie of the Year voting behind Shohei Ohtani. He didn't play much for New York after the start of this season. His play at third base was inconsistent and often criticized.

Andujar had a disappointing season at the start of the 2019 season. He was moved to the outfield and spent the season bouncing back and forth between the Yankees' camp and the majors. Andugar was picked up by Pittsburgh three days later. The 27-year-old is out of options next season, so the Pirates must keep him or risk losing him.
