MLB World Series odds: Braves, Dodgers, Astros lead the way

The 2023 MLB postseason has arrived, and the Houston Astros are once again among the favorites to win the World Series.

The Astros are the defending world champions and have now reached either the ALCS or the World Series in each of the past six seasons, and the odds say that they’ve got a strong chance of making it seven.

The Astros lead the way in the American League at +500 to win the World Series at Caesars Sportsbook, but the Atlanta Braves (+275) and the Los Angeles Dodgers (+475) top the odds chart heading into the postseason.

The road to the World Series in the American League appears tougher than in the National League considering how hard it was just to claim a wild card spot in the AL with the 88-win Mariners missing out.

Both the Diamondbacks and the Marlins reached the postseason in the NL with 84 wins in what appears to be a top-heavy battle with the Braves and Dodgers having won 100 games or more in the regular season.

While the Astros are the current AL favorite, the Baltimore Orioles (+650) are the top seed having won 101 games and have exceeded expectations all season considering they were a 200-to-1 longshot to win it all before Opening Day.

The Rays (+1200), Phillies (+1400), Rangers (+1600), Brewers (+1800) and Blue Jays (+1800) are all in the mix, with the Twins (+2000), Diamondbacks (+3000) and Marlins (+3300) entering as long shots.

The Braves, Dodgers, Astros and Orioles all have byes as the top seeds in their leagues and get to bypass the Wild Card round, which is set to begin with the Rangers taking on the Rays at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3.

The Twins will take on the Blue Jays in the other AL Wild Card series at 3:30 p.m., with the Brewers versus the Diamondbacks set for 6 p.m. and the Phillies versus the Marlins to wrap up the day at 7.
