2023 MLB futures odds: Braves, Dodgers top favorites to win World Series ahead of start of playoffs

The MLB postseason is here. Four Game 1s in the Wild Card round start on Tuesday, although none of the top four contenders in the odds are playing this round.

The Atlanta Braves head into the postseason as the betting favorite to win the World Series on BetMGM. The Los Angeles Dodgers, Houston Astros and Baltimore Orioles are next in line. Given the relatively random nature of the best-of-3 Wild Card round, the four teams with byes are almost always going to be higher in the odds than a team that has to advance past that.

2023 World Series odds

Odds are from BetMGM and will update as games conclude.

Among the teams playing in Wild Card Series, the Tampa Bay Rays are viewed as the team most likely to win the World Series. However, the Philadelphia Phillies enter Tuesday as the biggest favorites to win their series. The Phillies are -210 to advance past the Miami Marlins.

The Rays (-165 vs. the Texas Rangers), the Milwaukee Brewers (-160 vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks) and the Minnesota Twins (-125 vs. the Toronto Blue Jays) are the other favorites in the round before Tuesday’s Game 1s.

American League pennant odds

The Astros are slightly favored ahead of the Orioles to make the World Series out of the American League. The Orioles won 101 games while Houston only won 90, but playoff experience and recent success appear to carry weight for Houston. This is Baltimore’s first playoff appearance since 2016 while this is Houston’s seventh straight trip to the postseason.

The Rays are given some respect with the Twins, Rangers and Blue Jays jumbled behind those three teams.

National League pennant odds

Incredibly, the Braves are nearly even money to make the World Series out of the National League. That’s what happens when you win 104 games. The Dodgers are no slouches though after winning 100 games for the fifth time in the last six full regular seasons.
