Monday play: Determinedly is worth single in Gun Runner

Determinedly makes his first try against dirt stakes horses in the $100,000 Gun Runner Stakes at Fair Grounds on Monday. He won his maiden race at Churchill Downs.

Determinedly has shown some ability but has no dirt-stakes experience. He has won a few races on the turf, but lost three times in turf routes. His main opponents are Jace's Road and Hayes Strike. Luis Saez rides more aggressively than most jockeys. Determined is the selection at 5-2 or higher. He should win. Gun Runner should be at 3-5. The odds are good. They are 3/4/6.
