Rachel Alexandra Stakes Predictions, Odds, Picks (Fair Grounds)

La Crete is unbeaten in three starts and won last month's Silverbulletday at Fair Grounds. Hidden Connection won her first two starts by a combined 16 lengths. North County is undefeated in her three career starts. Rachel Alexandra Stakes offers Kentucky Oaks qualifying points on a scale of 50-20-10-5.

La Crete is a half-sister to the top mare Claiere and a daughter of Medaglia d’Oro and the Grade 1 winning mares Cavorting. She won her debut race at Churchill Downs and she won the recent Silverbulletday Stakes over the Fair Grounds main track.

Hidden Connection won her first two starts. Pocahontas won a Grade 3 race at Del Mar. Rachel Alexandra Stakes is the first race in 3 ½ months for Hidden Connection. She will be drawn far outside and will have to work hard early.

North County is unbeaten in three starts and has already won on turf, slop and a fast track. She is the top pick for Rachel Alexandra Stakes at Fair Grounds. She beat a nice filly last time and should offer solid value on Saturday.

Awake at Midnyte is a chestnut filly that finished second in a pair of graded stakes races. She will run 8 ½ furlongs in the Rachel Alexandra. She is likely to be forwardly placed early and will be in with a shot at the top of the lane.

Dream Lith won her debut at Saratoga and then moved up to Grade 1 stakes races. She beat a decent field in the Grade 2 Golden Rod at Churchill Downs in November. Dream Lith has been off for 12 weeks.

Divine Huntress is a daughter of Divining Rod. She won her first two races at Parx. Rachel Alexandra Stakes starts on Saturday. She is an interesting filly in this deep field.

Turnerloose is making her dirt debut at Rachel Alexandra Stakes. She was a solid filly on the turf last year for trainer Brad Cox. Turnerlo loose has not run since fading out of the picture in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

Rachel Alexandra Stakes takes place at Fair Grounds. Todd Pletcher's daughter of Mineshaft won her debut at Saratoga. She didn't do much in her next two races, but she did well in the Gasparilla Stake at Tampa Bay Downs.

Miss Mattie B. was beaten by Awake at Midnyte last time in the Santa Ynez. Her lone win in five career starts was a maiden score on the Del Mar turf two starts back. Now she ships east for the Rachel Alexandra.

California Angel is a graded stakes winner on turf. She finished sixth in the Untapable. Her best races have all come on the grass. Until she proves she likes dirt as much as turf, I have to pass on her.

Candy Raid was a 62/1 long shot in the Silverbulletday. She finished fourth, her best performance in eight career starts. Candy Raid has only two career wins.
