Montreal Canadiens: Justin Barron should look to benefit power play

Justin Barron was a first-round draft choice from the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the Colorado Avalanche. He was acquired by Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Artturi Lehkonen last season. Barron played a few games for the Canadiens during 2021-22 season and is expected to play more in the 2022-23 season with Montreal.

Montreal Canadiens should look to develop Justin Barron as a puck-moving defender who can help out on the power play. Barron reminds me a bit of Noah Hanifin. He's not flashy but talented in the offensive zone. The Canadiens are in a rebuild. It will take time for Barron to settle into the NHL. He will probably be a second-pairing player. If he starts to play on a power-play unit in 2022-23, he will be able to get things done. Montreal is looking for players starting to learn in NHL and develop. They want to keep developing their young players. Justin is not going to be the first choice.
