MS Dhoni's Last-Minute Field Change Leads To Pandya's Dismissal

Dhoni, the captain, was at his best on the field during the important clash on Tuesday night. He was on the mark with his bowling changes and field adjustments, and he was instantly rewarded for one such move during Gujarat’s innings.

The CSK keeper introduced spinner Maheesh Theekshana into the attack in the sixth over of the innings. The fourth ball, to Pandya, was a length ball, which the batter played straight to Moeen Ali in front of square, for a dot ball.

Anticipating Pandya’s next stroke, Dhoni called for a fielding change after the ball. He summoned Ravindra Jadeja from backward square towards backward point, and the move resulted in success on the very next delivery. Theekshana pulled back his length and bowled on the fourth stump. Hardik tried to make room but was unable to get the desired elevation, and only managed a thick edge to Jadeja at backward point.

Hardik departed for a seven-ball eight, with Ravi Shastri, on commentary, saying, “He played with Hardik’s ego there,”

Gujarat went on to lose the game by 15 runs, as CSK entered a record 10th IPL final. In terms of cricket betting, CSK are favourites to win the IPL with Betway.
