NASCAR alumni Austin Theriault, Hermie Sadler enter political realm
Hermie Sadler and Austin Theriault are former NASCAR drivers who are now politicians. Theriult ran as a Republican for District #1 in the Maine House of Representatives and won. Sader raced in NASCAR in 1990s and 2000s. He also worked as pit reporter for FOX Sports until 2019. He supports Virginia's ban on electronic betting machines. The ban is also a concern of Sadlers. His brother Elliott also raced NASCAR. They both won two NASCAR titles. It's not surprising that sports and politics are intertwined. NASCAR has seen cars supporting political candidates and outspoken drivers.
