While current points leader in the NASCAR Truck Series standings Corey Heim captured pole position for last weekend’s Tyson 250 from North Wilkesboro, Cup Series regular and All-Star race winner Kyle Larson who won the race. After bringing stock car racing to Wilkesboro, NASCAR stays in North Carolina and the familiar asphalt of Charlotte Motor Speedway.

We’ll review the NASCAR odds, recent results, and stats before making our NC Education Lottery 200 prediction for who will win in Charlotte on Friday night.

When a Cup Series regular participate in the Truck Series, they will be betting favorites and likely to win, as Kyle Larson, Kyle Busch, and Joey Logano have demonstrated this season.

The NASCAR Truck Series has a history dating back to 2003 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and used to be a companion race for NASCAR’s All-Star Weekend.

While we don’t have the list of confirmed entrants for the NC Education Lottery 200, if any Cup Series regulars drive in the Truck Series at Charlotte, many have a winning pedigree. None more so than Kyle Busch.

  • Kyle Busch has the most wins at Charlotte in the Truck Series with eight (2005, 2006, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2019) as a driver and seven as a team owner.
  • Former Truck Series Champion Matt Crafton of ThorSport Racing-Toyota has two wins at Charlotte in 2008 and 2016.
  • The last four Truck Series races at Charlotte feature four winners who primarily race in other series. NASCAR superstar Chase Elliott won the 2020 race, while current Xfinity Series standout John Hunter Nemechek won at Charlotte in 2021.
  • Last year’s winner at Charlotte is the current Cup Series Drivers’ Championship leader Ross Chastain.

We must reiterate that if a Cup Series regular joins the field for the NC Education Lottery 200, they will be atop the betting odds and have a high chance of winning. Whether it’s the Larsons, Loganos, Elliotts, or Buschs of the Cup Series world that chooses to compete in the Truck Series will change our NASCAR pick and our NASCAR prediction for the race.

Zane Smith of Front Row Motorsports-Ford has two race wins and five top-three finishes this season while having two top-five finishes and three top-tens in his last three races at Charlotte. However, when Smith isn’t finishing in the top three, he is further down the order, with his best finish being 14th.

Corey Heim of Tricon Garage-Toyota is the current Truck Series Drivers’ Championship leader, has one win, three top five, and five top ten finishes this season.

Grant Enfinger of GMS Racing Chevrolet is fourth in the Truck Series standings, having one race win, two top-five, and four top-ten finishes in 2023. Enfinger has an average finishing position of 9.3 in his last three races at Charlotte, with one top-five finish.

Christian Eckes of McAnally-Hilgemann Racing-Chevrolet has two race wins this season, including recently at Darlington, and three top-three finishes this season. Eckes has one top-five finish in his last three races in Charlotte.

Ty Majeski of ThorSport Racing has two top-ten finishes at Charlotte since 2020 and six top-five finishes this season.

  • Our NC Education Lottery 200 prediction is for Ty Majeski to win in Charlotte.
