NASCAR Cup Series Championship odds: Betting lines updated

With the Daytona 500 in the rearview mirror, the NASCAR Cup Series Championship odds have shifted, offering a new favorite. The Bill France Cup is still far away for whoever ends up as the 2024 champ, but now we have points.

There isn’t a lot to be learned from just one race, but there are a few things we can take away from Daytona. The Fords were the fastest in qualifying. Then, we saw the power of Toyota in the Duels.

Finally, just when we least expected it, the Chevy teams turned it on during the 500. By the time it was over, William Byron walked away as the winner. But does that mean he is the favorite in the NASCAR championship odds from FanDuel?

Kyle Larson (+500)

Ever since his massive season in 2021, Kyle Larson has been a fixture atop the NASCAR odds. For races, the championship, everything – Larson is considered one of the top drivers in the Cup Series and that is reflected in how Vegas values him.

Larson wasn’t really there with a shot to win in the Daytona 500, but he’s going to be strong as the season goes on. By the time we get to Phoenix and Las Vegas, those shorter tracks, Larson’s strengths will come out.

William Byron (+550)

Fresh off his Daytona 500 victory, another massive step in William Byron’s career, and the 24 team is one of the favorites. Byron won six races last year and just backed that up with a win in NASCAR’s biggest race of the season.

Byron was a Championship 4 driver last year and has won at Phoenix in the past. Right now, it looks like Willy B is ready to become the guy at Hendrick Motorsports, and that’s saying a lot considering his teammate is the only driver favored over him to win the championship right now.

Denny Hamlin (+650)

In his quest for a title, Denny Hamlin seems to be locked in and focused for the 2024 season. Fresh off his shoulder surgery, Hamlin has a pole award and win from the Busch Light Clash, as well as a solid run in the Duels and the Daytona 500.

With support from The Rock, Hamlin has fully entered his heel/villain era. It is no surprise to see him this high up in the NASCAR championship odds, but he is going to have to earn it this season with so much young talent seemingly on the rise.

Ryan Blaney (+850)

Don’t count out the 2023 champion. Ryan Blaney is going to do his best to go back-to-back in the Cup Series. Early results from Daytona were not great, but Blaney didn’t seem too discouraged.

The top Ford driver in the NASCAR championship odds, Blaney still commands a lot of respect from bettors and Vegas sportsbooks.

Chase Elliott (+850)

A lot of fans are hoping that Chase Elliott is back to his normal self after a year marred by injury and mishaps. Like Hamlin, Elliott is fresh off his shoulder surgery and ready to go in 2024.

With one championship already, the 28-year-old driver is looking for more. Right now, with the same odds as Blaney, he is in a good spot. Winning Stage 1 of the Daytona 500 was nice, but there needs to be more from Elliott.

Joey Logano (+1000)

There is not a lot of love for the Fords right now in the NASCAR championship odds. With the new Dark Horse body, the Ponies took claim of the Daytona 500 front row with Logano on the pole.

Something tells me that the two-time Cup Series champion won’t be as quiet as he was last year. I expect multiple wins from Logano. He could start his championship run by defending his 2023 Atlanta win this weekend.

Martin Truex Jr. (+1000)

The 2023 regular-season champion decided to return once again to the Cup Series, and no he’s not answering the retirement question any time soon. As long as Joe Gibbs Racing keeps delivering cars capable of winning, Martin Truex Jr. is going to race.

If Truex Jr. were to win the championship this year, I believe he would be the first two-time Xfinity and Cup champion. If we get a couple more Monday races, Truex should be just fine this year.

Christopher Bell (+1000)

The only driver to have made the Championship 4 in both 2022 and 2023, Christopher Bell is still waiting for his “William Byron” moment so to speak. Don’t be surprised if Bell ends up winning a handful of races this season.

One of the only things holding Bell back from really taking off, early season starts. He has not been great in the first third or so of the season really ever, but winning his Duels race at Daytona is a step in the right direction.

Kyle Busch (+1400)

No surprise, another former champion in the top-10. Kyle Busch wasn’t able to claim his first Daytona 500 win this past week, but he has his eyes on bigger things at RCR.

Busch and Richard Childress were a really solid pairing in their debut season. Giving Busch the cars and pit stops he needs later in the season will be the key to any success for this team in 2024.

One race down and just 36 more weeks to go until we crown the 2024 Cup Series champion. The NASCAR championship odds reveal a few things right now – Chevy and Toyota are still considered favorites. Even with Ford claiming the title the last two seasons, they will have to earn that respect once again this year. The Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta is this weekend, who will take the win and make a case that they could be champion?
