NASCAR Cup Series Championship odds: Betting lines updated after Phoenix
The odds for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series title have been updated following the Shriners Children’s 500 at Phoenix Raceway over the weekend.
Christopher Bell showcased some major speed for Toyota, capturing his first win of the season at a track that’s given hit fits during the Championship 4 over the last two seasons. Elsewhere, Tyler Reddick and Denny Hamlin had strong performances, but weren’t able to keep up with the No. 20 in the end.
Ahead of next weekend’s race at Bristol, where drivers are sure to get under each other’s skin, there’s a bevy of fascinating storylines. As the campaign moves forward this weekend, here are the updated NASCAR Cup Series title odds, courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook.
Kyle Larson (+550)
After capturing his first win of the season at Las Vegas, Kyle Larson followed it up with a solid P14 at Phoenix. Locked into the playoffs, the Hendrick Motorsports star will be looking for any advantage over the next couple of months that can help him win his second title.
At Bristol in 2023, Larson finished P35 in last season’s dirt race, and P2 when the Cup Series returned for the playoffs. We’ll see if he can get that extra spot, and have a little more luck on St. Patrick’s Day.
William Byron (+650)
William Byron had a lot of fun at Phoenix in 2023, but Sunday’s trip to the desert wasn’t an awesome day for the Hendrick wheelman. Byron finished P18, and had trouble getting to the front of the field throughout the afternoon.
Bristol was good to Byron last season, as he finished P13 and P9 at the track in 2023. He’ll be gunning for his second win of the season this weekend, hoping to separate himself from the rest of the field.
Denny Hamlin (+650)
Denny Hamlin had one of the cars to beat at Phoenix, and that showed when he won the pole on Saturday. However, he spun late in the race while racing for the lead, and could only muster a P11 finish on the afternoon.
Now, he’ll be elated to see Bristol on the schedule. Hamlin had a memorable win their last season during the playoffs, so he’ll welcome the track with open arms as the Cup Series returns to Tennessee.
Christopher Bell (+850)
Christopher Bell proved once again why he’s such an underrated driver. The Joe Gibbs Racing star had a dominant car at Phoenix, and drove away from the field as the laps dwindled down in Arizona.
Bell had a lot of fun at Bristol last season, capturing a win on the dirt, and coming home P3 during the Cup Series playoffs. Perhaps he can make it back-to-back, following up his win at Phoenix with a win at Bristol this weekend.
Chase Elliott (+900)
Chase Elliott didn’t have the best day at Phoenix, coming up P19 on the afternoon. Still, he’s looking like a rejuvenated driver, and Bristol is a good track for the Hendrick Motorsports star.
He came home P7 during his lone race at the track in the fall, after missing the first date with an injury. Elliott is still on the search for his first win in what feels like forever, but with the way he’s driving, it’s coming soon.
Ross Chastain (+1100)
Ross Chastain continues to prove his mettle in the Cup Series. The Trackhouse Racing star came home P6 at Phoenix, the best of the Chevrolets on the afternoon, as the manufacturer didn’t have their best performance.
At Bristol last season, Chastain didn’t have a lot of luck, finishing in the 20s both times the Cup Series went to the track. We’ll see if St. Patrick’s Day means a better finish for the Melon Man on Sunday.
Ryan Blaney (+1200)
Similar to Ross Chastain, who Ryan Blaney ironically has a budding rivalry with, Bristol wasn’t kind to the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion last season. However, that could change in an instant with Blaney, who’s proven solid on short tracks.
He’s been awesome to start the season, and that continued at Phoenix. Blaney came home P5, so he’ll look to stay hot as the Cup Series moves on in their campaign.
Joey Logano (+1200)
There aren’t many wheelmen who have had worse luck than Joey Logano to start the season. Still, he remains among the threats to win each week, even after his P34 finish at Phoenix.
Bristol was miserable for Logano in 2023, as he finished P37 and P34 in both races at the track last season. Perhaps Logano’s luck will change at a track where he hasn’t had much of it in the past. You never know.
Martin Truex Jr. (+1200)
Martin Truex Jr. showcased some serious speed at Phoenix. He didn’t come home with a win, but came back to finish P7 after his team took a chance by staying out, leading while hoping for a yellow flag.
The yellow never came for Truex, but Bristol this weekend provides another opportunity for a win. The Joe Gibbs Racing wheelman has been great at the track, and a checkered flag could be within his grasp when it’s all said and done this weekend.
