NASCAR driver boycotts races until he gets his money from 2022

Greg Biffle has a car at the Daytona 500. But he says he won’t be driving it unless he gets his money from the 2022 season.

The 54-year-old NASCAR veteran took to social media this week to discuss his status for this weekend’s race after word got out that he has a car for Daytona.

Biffle said that he won’t be getting behind the wheel this weekend -- or at any point for NASCAR -- until he receives money he says he’s owed from 2022.

“While I had hoped to be running in the 2024 Daytona 500 this year — that will not be happening. Due to unfulfilled contract obligations from 2022 for myself and the team, I have made a hard decision to not participate in any races, until the prior contract obligations have been fulfilled,” Biffle wrote.

“I wish the team all the best and hopefully I will have the opportunity to race again and win this coveted race,” he added.

Biffle is a former Busch Series champ (now the Xfinity Series) who has 19 Cup Series wins in his career. In 2023, he was named to the “NASCAR 75 Greatest Drivers” list.

Biffle hasn’t been a full-time driver since the 2016 season. Since then, he’s participated as a part-time driver. His last race was the 2022 Geico 500 at Talladega, driving for NY Racing Team. He was set to drive again for NY Racing Team this year. However, his current stance appears to be shutting that door for now.
