National Signing Day: Virginia's 2023 recruiting class is better than their ranking

Virginia football is set to close on the 2023 class on Wednesday. Tony Elliott and company will secure the No. 61 ranked in the overall rankings, the No. 13 class in the ACC. According to 247Sports' Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong, Virginia's 2023 recruiting class is better than their ranking.

"When you do a deep dive on this class it's much better than the ranking suggests," said Wiltfong during the 247Sports National Signing Day Show. "Kam Robinson is the jewel, a four-star linebacker that South Carolina and Florida State tried to flip late; he sticks. He's an all-state backer and all-state receiver and all-state punter from Essex high. Anthony Britton, a 6-foot-5, 270 pound defensive lineman had 28 sacks for Lake Taylor, he's going to be a problem in the ACC . Mekhai Buchanan, he's going to play the bandit for UVA. He is 6-5, 120 pounds - excellent traits, he had 90 tackles as a senior.

"Their quarterback committed Anthony Colandrea was a 3000 yard passer for St. Petersbur High. TyLyric Coleman was an awesome two way guy for in-state Dan River. He is 6-3 and had 13 receiving touchdowns and three picks as as a senior. This class is just full of really good football players.

Landon Danley ahd 10 career interceptions for Dutch Fork. Jaden Gibson is the most prolific receiver in Peach State history or one of the most prolific over the last few seasons with over 4000 yards receiving, so they went out and found a lot of good football players. Suderian Harrison is dynamic dual threat quarterback that's going to play some receiver for them and then Keandre Walker helped East Lincoln go 16-0 in North Carolina, another outstanding high school player."

Colandrea and Gibson were both early enrollees for the 'Hoos this January. They join Virginia's newest transfers including: quarterback Tony Muskett, wide receiver Malik Washington, running back Kobe Pace, offensive lineman Ugonna Nnanna and defensive backs Tayvonn Kyle and Cam Kelly.
