Nature Strip dominant winner but Tassie jockey still holds Royal Ascot record

Nature Strip won the group 1 King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot. Media commentators called it the best ever by an Australian horse at the famous track. Tasmanian jockey Craig Newitt still holds the record for the race's 160-year history. He rode Miss Andretti in 2007. Nature Strip ran 58.25 on Wednesday morning (AEST time). That was quicker than the other Australian winners of the competition.

There is a return to local racing at Elwick this week. Five of the past eight meetings have been in 'punters' paradise' at Spreyton. The average SP of Elwick winners on May 22 was $7.50 and on June 5 it was $5.00.
