NBA All-Star Game Predictions, Odds: Doncic Offers Value as MVP Winner

The NBA All-Star Game takes place in Indianapolis with a return to tradition, and our NBA All-Star Game predictions are based on the best NBA odds.

The 73rd NBA All-Star Game, which tips off Sunday at 8 p.m. ET, heads to Indianapolis this year with a return to the traditional exhibition format between the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference.

Reigning MVP Joel Embiid won’t play after suffering a serious injury recently, and Julius Randle will also be sidelined for the East. There should still be plenty of star power on display, though, with LeBron James set to make history in his 20th All-Star appearance.

He'll be joined by a host of fresh faces, including Jalen Brunson, Tyrese Maxey, Paolo Banchero, and Scottie Barnes. Could one of them emerge as the All-Star Game MVP, or will we see a usual suspect claim that honor in 2024?

In addition to our NBA All-Star skills props, here are our best NBA All-Star Game predictions and NBA picks (odds via our best NBA betting sites; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Best NBA All-Star Game picks

Luka Doncic All-Star Game MVP (+1900 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

Doncic is on a tear in 2023-24, and he currently ranks second in the Association in points per game at a career-high 34.2. He’s grabbing 8.8 boards per game to go with a career-high 9.5 assists.

It’s been a phenomenal campaign for Doncic, but he’s not often included in MVP conversations. Doncic sits behind Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in current NBA MVP odds, and the Dallas Mavericks’ No. 7 seeding in the Western Conference is surely a factor. The ASG provides Luka with a chance to validate his tremendous season and show he can compete with the other MVP hopefuls.

He ended the first half of the season on a high note while averaging 35.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 1.05 assists across his last 13 games. Six of the previous seven ASG MVPs have been forwards, but Doncic will buck that trend Sunday.

Elite scorers almost always win this award, and there will be no better scorer in the game than Doncic. He’s averaged just seven points per game in four ASGs thus far, but Doncic is on another level in 2023-24.

The All-Star Game MVP has been an average of 26.9 years old over the last 10 seasons. Doncic's odds are far too long at +1900, and we’re taking a chance on the soon-to-be 25-year-old.

Luka Doncic Over 24.5 points (+960 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

We’re betting on Luka to win MVP, so why wouldn’t we take this delicious points prop at +960? All-Star Game MVPs tend to score a lot. Steph Curry scored 50 in 2022, and Jayson Tatum broke the single-game record with 55 during 2023-24.

How often do ASG MVPs finish with fewer than 25 points? You’d have to go all the way back to the 2013 All-Star Game when Chris Paul ended with 20 points, 15 assists, and four steals.

Between Paul’s 20-point effort in 2013 and Tatum’s 55-point eruption in 2023, only LeBron James in 2018 (29 points) scored fewer than 30 points as the ASG MVP. We can’t get Luka at Over 29.5 points, but we’ll certainly take him at Over 24.5, which is the highest alternate line offered. His standard line is just a comically low 10.5 points.

East vs. West Under 365.5 (-110 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

We can get the point total for this one as low as 362.5, but the odds are still the standard -110. So why not take the extra three points?

Only two games in ASG history have totaled at least 366 points. Those came in 2016 and 2017, the last two ASGs played before the format went to team captains and a playground-style draft.

Point totals averaged 324.8 during the playground-draft era and were far lower prior to the 2016 ASG. We won’t bet on the ASG bucking the recent and historical trends we’ve seen during the first year back to the old format. Give us the Under.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Over 29.5 points (-112 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Giannis is a team captain for another season, and he’ll look to lead his squad to victory in the veteran's eighth All-Star appearance on Sunday. He sports the highest scoring average in All-Star game history at 25.1, but that includes a two-point performance in 2022-23 when Antetokounmpo was injured and stepped on the court to score that single basket. The Greek Freak averaged 29 points per contest and scored 30 points four times over the six games when he received a full allotment of minutes.

His points prop is set at 28.5 across our best sports betting sites, but we’ll gladly take one extra point to make our odds a little more profitable. We can’t take regular-season stats as a reliable predictor of All-Star Game performance, but those numbers do carry some weight and reflect a player’s potential. Giannis is averaging better than 30 points per game for the second straight season, and he should feast in the paint and in transition on Sunday, especially with fellow frontcourt starter Embiid ruled out.
