NBA picks: Nets vs. Nuggets prediction, odds, over/under, spread, injury report for Thursday, Dec. 14

The Brooklyn Nets (13-10) will complete the second night of a back-to-back set Thursday when they visit the Denver Nuggets (16-9). The Nets are coming off a win over the Suns, while the Nuggets got a victory Tuesday over the Bulls for their second win in a row.

The Nets haven’t released an official injury report yet, but there were no notable day-to-day issues for them Wednesday. The Nuggets have listed both Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon as probable for this contest.

The Nuggets are 9.5-point favorites at DraftKings Sportsbook, with the total set at 230. Denver is -425 on the moneyline while Brooklyn comes in at +330.

The Nets are one of the best teams against the number this season with a 17-5-1 ATS mark. Brooklyn is 1-0-1 ATS with no rest and 3-0-1 ATS with a rest disadvantage, so the back-to-back isn’t concerning unless the team decides to sit multiple key players. On the flip side, the Nuggets are 10-14-1 ATS on the season with a 5-4-1 ATS mark at home.

The Nets have covered the spread in four of their last six games, while the Nuggets have covered in just two of their last six. Denver should be able to win this game at home but 9.5 points is a lot. I like Brooklyn to keep this close.

These teams have been solid offensively this season. The Nets rank eighth in points per game at 116.9, while the Nuggets aren’t too far behind in 14th at 114.2. That number for Denver climbs to 120.2 points per game at home.

Denver should be able to keep things moving offensively with the Nets potentially being a step slower on the second night of a back-to-back, and Brooklyn will have to keep pace with them. I like the over to hit Thursday evening.
