NBA picks: Timberwolves vs. Celtics prediction, odds, over/under, spread, injury report for Wednesday, Jan. 10

Gobert has been ruled out for the Timberwolves, who are now 10.5-point underdogs to the Celtics. The total is set at 227.5. I still like Minnesota to cover the double-digit spread, and I’ll take the over on this total.

Porzingis has been ruled out, while Horford and Holiday are in for Boston. The Celtics are still 9.5-point favorites and the total is 223.5.

Mike Conley has been ruled out for Minnesota, while Rudy Gobert is listed as questionable. The line hasn’t shifted much, with the Celtics now listed as 9.5-point favorites and the total moving to 224.5. It’s best to wait for the final designations for everyone before making an updated pick but I’m still backing Timberwolves +9.5 and the over for the time being.

The top teams in each conference will face off Wednesday when the Minnesota Timberwolves (26-10) meet the Boston Celtics (28-8). This is the second meeting between these teams this season, with Minnesota winning the first game 114-109 in overtime in Minneapolis. The Timberwolves won their last game while the Celtics are coming off a loss to the Pacers.

Minnesota is on the second night of a back-to-back set and won’t release an official injury report until 1 p.m. ET. For the Celtics, Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford have all been listed as questionable. Jayson Tatum was on the report Monday due to injury management but has been removed for this game.

The Celtics are 9-point favorites according to DraftKings Sportsbook, with the total coming in at 223. Boston is -380 on the moneyline while Minnesota is +300.

Timberwolves vs. Celtics, 7 p.m. ET

Pick ATS: Timberwolves +9

Boston is 17-0 at home this season, carrying a 11-6 ATS mark at TD Garden. The Timberwolves haven’t been great on the road but are 9-11 ATS as the away team. The Celtics have covered the spread in three of their last five games, while the Timberwolves have covered twice in the last five. Even though Minnesota is 0-2 ATS on no rest and 0-3-1 ATS with a rest disadvantage, I like this group to at least cover the spread in what should be a close contest. Boston’s injuries do leave some room for this line to move a bit, although it looks like all of Holiday, Porzingis and Horford will play.

Over/Under: Over 223

The first meeting hit this exact mark, and there was a need for overtime to get there. However, that game was in Minnesota where the Timberwolves’ defense turns up to a new level. The Celtics are 9-8 on overs at home, while Minnesota is 12-8 on overs as the away team. I like this contest to go over, even though Boston can put down the clamps at home.
