NBA Player Awards Futures: New Faces In New Places

The NBA offseason saw a lot of changes. Several players were named to the futures board for several regular season awards.

Rudy Gobert is the defending NBA Defensive Player of the Year. Minnesota Timberwolves gave up a lot to land him this off-season. Gober is a +450 favorite to join Dikembe Mutombo and Ben Wallace as the only four-time recipients.

The Boston Celtics went to the NBA Finals this season. They traded away several players to get Malcolm Brogdon from the Indiana Pacers. Brogsdon is the third shortest odds to take the award at +1200. He is behind reigning sixth man Tyler Herro and Jordan Poole. He has played just 92 games over the past two seasons.

Christian Wood was traded to the Dallas Mavericks from Houston Rockets in exchange for Boban Marjanović, Trey Burke, Marquese Chriss, Sterling Brown and the draft rights to Wendell Moore Jr. Wood averaged 17.9 points and 10.1 rebounds a night last season.

Jalen Brunson signed a four-year, $104 million contract with New York Knicks. He is the favorite for the Most Improved Player of the Year award. Anthony Edwards is also a contender.  The MIP award is one of most unpredictable awards. The odds are +2200. There are six other players in the mix.
