NBA player props: Best bets for Friday, January 12 featuring Anthony Edwards, Fred VanVleet, Scottie Barnes

We have a busy slate of NBA action to look forward to this evening with 10 games tipping the weekend off. There are plenty of opportunities to hit on player props courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook and we’ll go over some of our favorites below.

Anthony Edwards double-double vs. Trail Blazers (+750)

Edwards is averaging 26.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.9 assists and as a result, he only has a handful of double-doubles this season. There’s a chance for him to get one tonight as the Minnesota Timberwolves are catching the struggling Portland Trail Blazers on the back end of a back-to-back. The Blazers are yielding an average of 47.3 rebounds over their last 10 outings and Edwards should be primed to pull down at least 10 boards in this contest.

Fred VanVleet over 8.5 assists vs. Pistons (+100)

VanVleet has played an integral part in Houston Rockets’ improvement this season and it begins with his abilities as a ball distributor. The veteran has averaged 8.5 assists and was able to deliver 10 dimes for a double-double in Wednesday’s overtime loss to the Chicago Bulls. He should be able to put up similar numbers and top his season average once again as the Rockets visit the abysmal Detroit Pistons tonight.

Harrison Barnes over 8.5 points vs. 76ers (+100)

The Sacramento Kings will continue their road trip when visiting the Philadelphia 76ers tonight and they’re catching the Eastern Conference power at an awkward time. The Sixers have struggled for the past week with three straight losses and reigning MVP Joel Embiid will be out of action for tonight’s game. Barnes is averaging 10.9 points per game and tonight presents an opportunity for him to at least match it.

Myles Turner over 1.5 3-pointers vs. Hawks (+100)

The Indiana Pacers will be playing its second straight game without Tyrese Haliburton tonight when kicking off a six-game road trip against the Atlanta Hawks. Turner doesn’t venture outside that much, as he’s averaging just about one three a game on 34.5% shooting from downtown. The Hawks, however, have been giving up an average of 15.1 threes over their last 10 games and I think this is a chance for Turner to get two tonight.

Scottie Barnes over 1.5 steals vs. Jazz (+130)

The Toronto Raptors will wrap up their six-game Western Conference road trip tonight when visiting the Utah Jazz. The Jazz have been playing well as of late, but one of their weaknesses all season long has been getting the ball ripped from them. They are giving up an average of 8.7 steals per game and I think someone the caliber of Barnes can get to two this evening.
