Nets vs 76ers Odds, Lines, Injuries, Picks for Game 2

The Brooklyn Nets will be looking to even up their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal with the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday in Game 2 at the Wells Fargo Center. The tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET.

The Sixers comfortably took Game 1 on Saturday afternoon in front of the Philly faithful, putting a beatdown on Brooklyn by a score of 121-101. That’s now five victories in a row for Doc Rivers’ squad against the Nets, having won all four of their regular season meetings.

Nets vs 76ers Odds

After a lopsided series opener, the odds are very one-sided Monday. The 76ers come in as a 10.5-point favorite with steep moneyline odds of -520. The Nets meanwhile sit at +375.

Nets’ Supporting Cast Needs to Step up

Mikal Bridges continued to cement his star status since joining Brooklyn, balling out for 30 points on 12 for 18 shooting from the field in Game 1. However, there was a serious lack of help from the rest of the rotation. Cam Johnson’s 15 points were about the only other bright spot.

Only three scorers outside of Bridges finished in double-figures (Johnson included). While the Nets did shoot 45% from downtown and 56% from the field, there just weren’t contributions from up and down this roster. Against a team like Philadelphia, Jacque Vaughn’s squad must be a lot better.

Turnovers proved to be a serious issue as well, coughing the rock up 19 times which translated into 31 points for the Sixers. It’s absolutely crucial that Brooklyn can snatch one of these games on the road but that means they need to lock down defensively and actually make life hard for their opponents. Philadelphia had far too many open looks Saturday.

Sixers Coming Off Dominant Win

Philadelphia made a loud statement in the first game of this series and proved why many are considering them a potential contender to come out of the East. Rivers’ group was lights out from the get-go and ended up canning 21 of their 43 triples on the night, with James Harden in particular catching fire from long range.

The Beard was 7 for 13 and finished with 23 points in total to go along with 13 assists. Joel Embiid also dropped a team-high 26 points, while Tyrese Maxey added 21, too. The ball movement was impeccable in Game 1, dishing out 32 dimes. It’s no wonder the 76ers could barely miss a shot.

Philadelphia never trailed and even led by 25 at one point. Brooklyn really had no answer for the Sixers’ Big 3. Oh, we also can’t forget about PJ Tucker’s impact, who proved why he is such a valuable asset to this rotation. The veteran did the dirty work, notching five steals, five offensive rebounds, and six points. Tucker’s energy is infectious.

Nets vs 76ers Prediction

Will Brooklyn come out flat again? It’s possible. But, the spread is just far too big in my opinion. I do think the Sixers win again, but I expect the Nets to make it a lot more competitive after a stinker in Game 1. After all, they lost by fewer than 10 points in three of the four regular-season matchups.
