Nets vs. Pistons prediction: NBA odds, picks, bets bets for Tuesday

New York Post

Nobody wants to be the team that helps snap a 26-game losing streak, including the Brooklyn Nets, who travel to the Motor City tonight to face the hapless Detroit Pistons.

Three games into the season, the Pistons owned a 2-1 record.

However, 26 consecutive losses later, Detroit has slipped into a 2-27 hole, which not only kills their playoff hopes, but can turn this into a historically bad season.

The most recent loss by the Pistons came to these Nets at Barclays Center on Saturday night.

Brooklyn took care of Detroit, 126-115, to cash as 9.5-point favorites, while Mikal Bridges busted out of his scoring slump, scoring 29 points for the Nets.

The Pistons, who had the second-lowest wins total set for this season (27.5, three behind the Wizards), aren’t just bad in straight-up decisions, but are getting run off the court on a nightly basis.

Only five of their past 26 games have come by six or fewer points, while they have compiled an atrocious 7-19 mark against the spread.

Forget about whether they’ll win tonight to avoid breaking the NBA record for most consecutive losses within a single season, some books have set odds on whether they’ll win another game.

The Nets were in the midst of a five-game slide themselves prior to Saturday’s win over Detroit. They’re listed tonight as a road favorite for just  the third time this season.

In the first two instances, the Nets beat the Hornets, 133-121, but lost at Utah on its most recent road trip as three-point favorites, 125-108.

The Pistons are 1-6 against the spread in their last seven home games, with the lone cover coming against Denver as 9.5-point underdogs in a 107-103 defeat.

Until Detroit wins a game or is a little more competitive, it’s tough to make an argument to back them.

Let’s take Brooklyn in this spot to beat Detroit once again and help the Pistons make NBA history.
