New Zealand ODI Cricket World Cup record: Full history in ICC men's tournament and predictions, odds and best bets for 2023

While New Zealand are known for holding the record for having the most number of semi-final appearances, the Black Caps are yet to lift the ODI Cricket World Cup trophy.

As the 13th edition of the ODI World Cup begins in India on October 5, they will finally hope to change that unwanted trend.

Here's a look at New Zealand's past record at the ICC ODI men's tournament, and an assessment of their chances for the upcoming competition.

New Zealand Cricket World Cup record: How many times have Black Caps won the ODI WC?

Widely regarded to be one of the most competitive teams in the world, you would think that New Zealand would have won the ODI World Cup at least once.

Unfortunately for the Kiwis, they have never won the coveted trophy in 12 editions of the tournament so far.

Despite being one of the six teams to have played in all the World Cup editions, they are yet to get across the finish line.

New Zealand previous ODI World Cup performance by year

New Zealand reached the finals in consecutive years in 2015 and 2019 — losing to England in the most dramatic of circumstances on boundary countback after a tied Super Over four years ago — and they have been knocked out in the semi-finals six times.

Here's their previous record in ODI men's World Cups.

New Zealand Cricket World Cup 2023 predictions, best bets and odds

With a good combination of players who have both experience and skill, New Zealand are one of the strongest teams in this year's ODI World Cup.

The Black Caps have a fiery bowling attack with the likes of Trent Boult and Tim Southee and batting superstars like Devon Conway and Tom Latham that makes for a well-balanced team.

However, the fitness of Kane Williamson could be crucial after he suffered a knee injury in April.
