New Zealand vs Netherlands Cricket World Cup 2023: Expected lineups, head-to-head, toss, predictions and betting odds

The Sporting News

New Zealand are all set to play their second match of the ODI World Cup 2023 against the Netherlands on 9th October. The fixture will take place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.

Kane Williamson is confirmed to miss the second match as well, which means Tom Latham will lead the side once again.

However, the Black Caps got some respite as Lockie Ferguson and Tim Southee, who also missed the first game, are available for selection for the match against the Dutch. In the absence of Williamson, it seems like Will Young will get another chance to open with Devon Conway.

New Zealand thrashed England in the opening match of the World Cup 2023 and registered a nine-wicket win over the defending champions, courtesy of Conway and Rachin Ravindra's centuries.

On the other hand, the Netherlands showed some glimpses of fight in their first match against Pakistan but ended up on the losing side by a margin of 81 runs. The form of their captain Scott Edwards is a a concern as the skipper has not crossed the 30-plus mark in his last four ODIs.

New Zealand vs Netherlands: Prediction for CWC 2023 match

The result will likely lean in favour of New Zealand, who look red-hot after their formidable win against England on Thursday.

Another thing that could favour the Latham-led side is that they played a warm-up game against Pakistan in the same venue in Hyderabad and won that match with ease.

The Netherlands will have to perform exceptionally well to earn two crucial points, but New Zealand will be looking for a big win to further enhance their Net Run Rate even more.
