Newbury Saturday review: Double delight for Nicky Henderson

Nicky Henderson won the Gerry Feilden on First Street. James Bowen had earlier won it on Luccia. Nico de Boinville rode Constitution Hill. Henderson has a lot of good two-milers in his yard. He is going to make some plans for tomorrow morning. He has loved the race since the beginning of the season. Epatante won in 2019 and went on to win the Christmas Hurdle. The Gerry Fildens gives second-season novices an opportunity to break into the next league. It's a great introduction. There are a number of nice horses in the yard, so Henderson wants to keep his feet on the ground.

Luccia won the Play Coral "Racing-Super-Series" For Free Mares’ Novices” Hurdle at Cheltenham. She was making her hurdling debut in the extended two-mile Listed contest. The Henderson-trained four-year-old made her move approaching the penultimate flight and drew readily clear. Sky Bet make Luccia 4/1 from 8s for the Cheltonham feature and 16/16 for Skybet Supreme.
