Next Alabama Head Coach Odds and Predictions

The Nick Saban era is over and Alabama faces the daunting task of finding a head coach to fill his boots. Fortunately for them, they are Alabama and can have their pick of the litter. Betting odds suggest Dan Lanning is the favorite to fill the void.

The Nick Saban era is over.

After winning an impressive six National Championships for Alabama, the legendary college football coach, widely regarded as the best of all time, has decided to hang up his coaching hat and retire.

The news sent shockwaves through the sporting world but as is the case with any coaching change, the show must go on. Alabama's CFP Title odds have already dropped from +500 to +1,000 at some spots and you can now find college football odds on who will have the daunting task of filling his shoes.

Favorites to be next Alabama head coach

Dan Lanning (+200)

With all due respect to the Oregon Ducks and the program they have up in Eugene, this opportunity may be too good for Dan Lanning to pass up.

Lanning has done well in his short tenure with the Ducks, notching a 15-3 record with two bowl wins to boot. While his head coaching background is limited, Alabama will want to replace Nick Saban with someone young (Lanning is 37), someone who can recruit well, and someone who has cutting-edge philosophies on offense, and a defensive toughness that would uphold Alabama's standards.

It's not certain Lanning will bolt, but with Bo Nix off to the NFL, and Oregon joining the Big Ten, going to an SEC powerhouse is the best option.

Lane Kiffin (+400)

If there was one person who would up and leave an unfinished product for greener pastures, it would be Lane Kiffin.

Kiffin has done a good job building Mississippi into a respectable program behind a high-flying offense but he's Alabama through and through.

He comes from the Saban coaching tree and he was the OC for two National Championship seasons in Tuscaloosa.

That kind of pedigree and respect within the program and fan base will go a long way should Kiffin be presented with the opportunity.
