NHL best bets today (Continue to ride the Stars on Tuesday)

We took a step in the right direction with my NHL picks last night, going 1-0-1 for a small profit.

We pushed on the OVER 7 between the Sabres and Maple Leafs, but cashed the Dallas Stars on a sweat free win over the Seattle Kraken.

I have four picks for tonight, but I have bad news for you underdog bettors. I’m backing four favorites tonight.

Let’s dive into them.

NHL best bets today

  • Hurricanes -200 vs. Jets
  • Devils -130 vs. Lightning
  • Stars -140 vs. Canucks
  • Sharks -142 vs. Blue Jackets

Hurricanes -200 vs. Jets

Most people don’t want to lay -200 on a moneyline in the NHL, so if you want to get more aggressive and bet on the Canes on the puck line or three-way moneyline, I wouldn’t blame you.

For myself, I’m going to stay safe and bet on the moneyline in this spot. Overtime has screwed me over too many times before. The Hurricanes are statistically the best team in the NHL and it’s not even close. Whether it’s full season numbers or a recent sample size, they lead the NHL in almost every analytic.

The Jets have relied on their goaltending throughout the season, but its failed them as of late. Over their last 10 games, they’re 29th in team save percentage at 87.38%.

I’ll back the Hurricanes to win this game.

Devils -130 vs. Lightning

The New Jersey Devils are playing some of their best hockey of the season as of late. Over their last 10 games, they’re fourth in the NHL in CORSI% and first in expected goals percentage.

They have an average expected goal differential of +1.80 over their last 10 games. Meanwhile, the Lightning have stumbled and haven’t looked like their normal selves. They’re just 3-5-2 in their last 10 games while ranking in the middle of the pack in several statistics.

I like the Devils are small home favorites.

Stars -140 vs. Canucks

The Stars got us the win last night and I’ll ride with them again tonight against the Vancouver Canucks. Jake Oettinger will likely be on their bench tonight, but even with their backup goalie in net, I still trust Dallas.

Over their last 10 games, they’re second in the NHL in expected goal differential per 60 minutes at +1.19.

The Canucks continue to play poorly, ranking 21st in CORSI% over their last 10 games. I have no interesting in backing them at number. Give me the Stars are road favorites tonight in the second half of a back-to-back.

Sharks -142 vs. Blue Jackets

The San Jose Sharks may be 2-7-1 in their last 10 games, but I still think they’ve played some solid hockey as of late. Over their last 10 games, they rank 14th in the NHL in CORSI% (which measures all types of shots for and against) and 18th in expected goals percentage.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets, as they have all season, rank near the bottom of the NHL as won of the worst teams in the league. The Sharks should be able to take care of business at home.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
