NHL parlay picks February 28: Bet on Wild, Red Wings

We’ve uncovered three wagers for our NHL parlay on Tuesday.

The pregame narrative: The Minnesota Wild are an elite home team, making them a solid choice against the visiting New York Islanders. We’re looking to the Detroit Red Wings to come through as an underdog, and like an alternate under between the Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets.

NHL odds as of 10:06 a.m. on 02/28/2023.

NHL parlay picks

Parlay: Wild moneyline + Red Wings +1.5 + Kings vs. Jets under 6.5 goals - regular time (+269)

Wild moneyline (-141): Minnesota is elite at home and we’re happily picking the team to win on the moneyline.

The Wild are a Western Conference-best 20-10-2 at home this season, winning four consecutive contests at Xcel Energy Center. This recent hot stretch includes victories over playoff teams like the Dallas Stars and Los Angeles Kings.

The Islanders are by no means a quality road team. They’re an underwhelming 13-14-4 on the road this year with seven losses in their last 10 away from UBS Arena.

Minnesota owns a better expected goals percentage (50.57% - 49.46%) and team save percentage (.955 - .949) than New York over the last seven days, according to Natural Stat Trick, meaning home-ice advantage should only shift the advantage further in the Wild’s favour.

Other parlay picks

Red Wings +1.5 (-240): Detroit lost 6-2 to the Ottawa Senators on Monday, but we’re expecting a better result.

The reason why is the man between the pipes. Magnus Hellberg started the first leg of this back-to-back set, making Ville Husso Tuesday’s starter. With the latter playing as well as he is, his presence will make a difference.

Husso is 9-4 over his last 13 appearances with an impressive .925 save percentage. That includes winning five of his six road outings during this stretch.

The Sens will counter with Mads Sogaard after Cam Talbot started the first contest. Sogaard’s NHL numbers are respectable thus far (.911 career save percentage), but we’re only dealing with a seven-game sample size.

Kings vs. Jets under 6.5 goals - regular time (-195): If you’re looking for a team to cash an unders bet, bank on Winnipeg.

The Jets have cashed an under wager in 70% of their games. No other team has an unders percentage greater than 63% this year.

They’ve gone below this number in 12 consecutive games and 18 of their last 19.

They’re facing the Kings, who, despite being one of the better overs squads in the NHL, have fallen short of this number in three of their last four.
