NHL prop picks March 20: Bet on Flames’ Tyler Toffoli to score a point vs. Los Angeles

We’re picking three surging forwards in our NHL prop picks for Monday.

The pregame narrative: Jake Guentzel is funnelling plenty of pucks toward the net, making him a nice choice to go over his shot total. Tim Stutzle is a point-scoring machine and we’re expecting another active night against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Lastly, we’re looking to Tyler Toffoli to notch a point against the Los Angeles Kings.

NHL prop picks

Best Bet: Guentzel over 3.5 shots (+110)

Few players in the NHL are putting a healthier stream of pucks on goal than Guentzel.

The talented Pittsburgh Penguins winger is 12th in the NHL in shots (15) over the last week, according to Natural Stat Trick. His hot streak extends much further back than that, however, as he has 50 shots in his last 12 games, good for an average of 4.2 per contest.

He’s also been one of the best players at generating offence. He’s tied for sixth in expected goals (2.15), tied for fourth in scoring chances (19) and tied for second in high-danger chances (11) across the last seven days.

His opponent, the Ottawa Senators, offers a fairly neutral matchup. The Senators are allowing the 14h-most shots per contest (32.4) on the road this season.

Bank on Guentzel to continue his steady shot volume.

Key stat: Guentzel has four-plus shots in three of his last four outings and in eight of his last 12.

Quick picks

Stutzle to score 2+ points (+255): Stutzle’s breakout season is reaching new levels.

The young German forward tallied two points in his latest outing against the Toronto Maple Leafs, giving him five multi-point performances in his last six contests.

The Senators should score their fair share of goals against a Penguins team struggling to find much success between the pipes. Pittsburgh has the worst save percentage (.803) in the league over the last seven days.

Toffoli to score 1+ point (-134): Toffoli is one of the few players on the Calgary Flames bettors can rely on for offence.

He has appeared on the stat sheet in four of his last five games, registering seven points during this stretch.

Toffoli continues to see prime opportunities to score, playing on Calgary’s first line and top power-play unit. With the Flames averaging five goals per game over their last four, this is an offence bettors should want a piece of.
