Nottingham Forest linked Selim Amallah set for Spain switch

Nottingham Forest were linked with Morocco star Selim Amallah after the World Cup but he’s now set for Real Valladolid.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the midfielder is set to pen a contract with the La Liga outfit in the coming days.

The player will move to Spain from Standard Liege where he has spent the last four years.

Amallah caught the eye in Qatar where Morocco became the first African country to reach the semi-final of a World Cup.

He played in every game at the tournament as the Atlas Lions finished in fourth place to defy the odds.

Now, Amallah is set to get fixed up with a new club and it’s perhaps a surprising move for the player.

Forest were linked with Newcastle and Leeds this summer but he’s now opted to join the Spanish strugglers.

Valladolid are facing a real fight to stay in La Liga this season and currently sit 18th in the league table.

Forest are probably on the lookout for another attacker this month before the transfer window closes.

The Reds have added Chris Wood and Gustavo Scarpa to their ranks but links with attacking players are still evident.

Amallah has scored four goals for Liege during 2022/23 and typically plays in the number 10 role.

Forest linked with Amallah but they’re set to miss out

Perhaps, it quite easy to see why the Reds have chosen not to pursue this option.

Morgan Gibbs-White is outstanding in the number 10 role, whilst Scarpa and Jesse Lingard can also operate there.

As a result, the fact that Amallah isn’t overly versatile to operate elsewhere has perhaps tempted Forest to park their interest.

At 26-years-old the 31-cap star would have been at a nice age to sign for the Reds, particularly under Steve Cooper.

However, another number 10 is unlikely to be on the radar and it will now be interesting to see how he performs at Valladolid.
