Hello and welcome to our dedicated Liverpool live blog for Thursday, August 17.

After losing out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea, the Reds look set to secure a midfielder at last. Reports suggest Wataru Endo is set to join from Stuttgart, with a medical scheduled for the 30-year-old on Thursday.

Sofyan Amrabat, Cheick Doucoure and Boubacar Kamara are also being linked with a move. Reports in Holland and Italy are claiming contact is ongoing between the Reds and intermediaries representing Amrabat.

Inacio signs new deal

Liverpool-linkeedGoncalo Inacio set to sign new contract with Sporting CP.

The defender has regularly linked with a move to Anfield, however he has now signed a new deal with the Liga Portugal club.

Olise signs new contract

Michael Olise has committed his future to Crystal Palace by signing a new four-year contract amid interest from Chelsea.

The news comes a day after it was reported Chelsea had activated a £35m release clause in Olise's previous contract with Palace.

Olise, ahead of his move to Palace, was linked with a transfer to Liverpool after impressing for Reading in the Championship.

Workers 'pulled off site' at Anfield Road

Some workers have reportedly been told to leave the site of Liverpool's new Anfield stadium after the main contractor on the project filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators.

The Buckingham Group, the main contractor on the stadium project - which is aiming to expand Anfield's capacity by 7,000 seats - has filed the notice, which makes clear that the company intends to go into administration if a solution cannot be found to its immediate financial problems.

Responding to the news today, Liverpool FC said the filing will not impact the planned opening of the Anfield Road Stand's lower tier for the club's match with Bournemouth on Saturday and will work with the company on the planned phased opening of the remainder of the stand, with a specific intention to update supporters who have a ticket for the Aston Villa match on September 3.

German media react to Endo Liverpool transfer

VfB Stuttgart's Wataru Endo is on the verge of becoming Liverpool's third summer signing.

After a long search to bring in cover for the departed Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, Jurgen Klopp appears to have found his ideal candidate in a leader for both club and country that is a specialist in mopping up play.

It is a surprising twist to the Reds' midfield rebuild, though one that has been met with open arms in Germany for a number of reasons, similar to response Dominik Szoboszlai received ahead of finalising his £60m transfer earlier this summer.

The ECHO reported last night that contact had been made with Stuttgart for the versatile midfielder, who can also slot into defence. The fee has initially been stated as in the region of £16m.

Fowler makes Salah promise

Liverpool icon Robbie Fowler says he will 'put a word in' to keep Mohamed Salah at Anfield amid 'interest' from Saudi Arabia.

The Reds star has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Kingdom this summer, with many touting that the 31-year-old will tread the same path as Neymar, Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to the Pro League.

This week, it has been reported that Saudi side Al-Ittihad have contacted Salah and Liverpool about a potential transfer. Rudy Galetti claimed that the former Chelsea and Fiorentina forward will let Liverpool decide as he doesn't mind the idea but respects the decision.

Fowler, 42, is currently managing in Saudi's second tier with Al-Qadsiah and he followed Steven Gerrard - who is in charge of Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq - after the iconic Reds midfielder moved to play down suggestions that he wants Salah competing in the league.

Liverpool 'reactivate' Tchouameni and Valverde interest

Liverpool are reportedly keen on the Real Madrid duo of Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde and have 'reactivated' interest in the pair.

The Reds plotted a move for Tchouameni during last summer, though were beaten to the services of the Frenchman by Los Blancos.

The La Liga giants would then, of course, go on to land another high-profile Reds target in the form of Jude Bellingham.

El Nacional describe Klopp as being 'in love' with Valverde, though the report adds Real view the Uruguayan as one of their 'untouchables.

In the case of Tchouameni, the article adds Carlo Ancelotti is set to bring the former Monaco man back into his starting eleven on a regular basis after he lost his place during the second half of last season.

Endo 'on Merseyside for medical'

Wataru Endo is reportedly on Merseyside today to complete his move from Stuttgart to Liverpool.

That's according to David Lynch writing for This is Anfield, who is reporting that the Japan international has travelled to England to undergo a medical.

City 'agree Doku personal terms'

Manchester City are understood to have agreed personal terms with Rennes winger Jeremy Doku, though are facing last-minute competition from West Ham United.

The Belgian winger has long been linked with a move to Liverpool, though it is City who are closing in on the services of the forward.

Foot Mercato explain Rennes would be willing to part ways with the 21-year-old for a figure of at least €50millon (£42m). It is added West Ham are 'also in the game' for Doku and could jeopardise City's deal having already 'made an offer'.

Gravenberch latest

Liverpool are believed to have reactivated their interest in Ryan Gravenberch as the club looks to strengthen Jurgen Klopp's midfield options.

The Netherlands international joined the German giants from Ajax last summer, but despite winning the Bundesliga during his maiden campaign with the club, Gravenberch was limited to only three league starts.

As a result, the 21-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena this summer in a bid to secure regular game time.

And the ECHO understands that Liverpool have now reopened channels to explore interest in Gravenberch after initially placing the midfielder on a list of possible targets at the start of the window.

However, as things stand, Liverpool have only made initial contact, and there is no immediate suggestion that a deal will be pursued with Bayern for the midfielder.

The Anfield club is believed to be assessing a number of midfield options after missing out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

Endo move

Liverpool have made a shock move for Japan international captain Wataru Endo of Stuttgart as they race to bring in a proven defensive midfielder before the transfer window closes.

The Reds have made contact over the availability of the 30-year-old, who was regarded among the best in his position in the Bundesliga last season. The player has been granted permission by Stuttgart to talk with Liverpool.

Endo - who can also play centre-back - is in the final year of his contract and is unlikely to command a significant fee - thought to be in the region of £16 million - with Liverpool sporting director Jorg Schmadtke having used his contacts in Germany to help make a move for the player.

It is a surprise move from Liverpool, who have thus far been frustrated in their attempts to sign a number six this summer to bolster Jurgen Klopp's squad following the departures of James Milner, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.

Johan Bakayoko eyed as Mohamed Salah replacement

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a move for PSV Eindhoven forward Johan Bakayoko, according to Football Insider, should the Reds lose Mohamed Salah.

According to reports, the Egyptian is the latest Liverpool star to catch the attention of the Saudi Pro League. As a result, Bakaoko is on "firmly" on the radar.

PSG and Napoli also linked with the 20-year-old.

Premier League duo admired

James Pearce from The Athletic is reporting that Crystal Palace's Cheick Doucoure and Boubacar Kamara are among the players admired by Liverpool.

Ryan Gravenberch, another player linked with a move to Anfield, has been mooted this summer but the stance from Bayern Munich is that he isn't for sale.

Andre of Fluminense is another midfield target after Liverpool made contact with the Brazilian club. However, it's been suggested that the Reds could be forced to wait until January for the 22-year-old, although it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will test the resolve of the Tricolor.

Liverpool on track to sign Sofyan Amrabat

In the latest transfer twist, Liverpool are reportedly on track to finalise a deal to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

That is according to Algemeen Dagblad.

Manchester United and Atletico Madrid had been linked with his services but it appears that the Moroccan will secure his Premier League move after a breakout display in a record-breaking cameo at the World Cup.

Erik ten Hag's side were said to consider him as a "serious" midfield option, Barcelona and Bayern Munich were also mooted.

Good morning!

We're approaching the weekend and we're just one day away from hearing from manager Jurgen Klopp.
