Forest to extend home run

Forest’s home form kept them in the top flight last season and they go into this match looking for a fifth straight Premier League home win, having ended the 2022-23 campaign with wins against Brighton, Southampton and Arsenal, and started this one by defeating Sheffield United.

Steve Cooper’s side went into the international break on the back of a 1-0 victory at Chelsea and will be confident of beating a Burnley side who have lost all three league games this term. Victory by two goals or more would take them up five places to seventh in the table.

The Clarets have recorded a victory this season – and it came at the City Ground in the League Cup, when Zeki Amdouni scored a last-minute winner.

However, the more expansive football they played under Vincent Kompany when cantering to the Championship title has served them less well in the top flight, their three defeats coming at an aggregate score of 11-3 as Manchester City, Aston Villa and Spurs have picked them off.

Against a Forest side who are looking more solid by the week, it may be that Burnley’s pointless run continues for another match.

Awoniyi hard to contain

Forest’s form has coincided with that of Taiwo Awoniyi, who, after scoring in each of his team’s opening three Premier League games, provided the assist for Anthony Elanga’s winner at Chelsea.

The Nigerian struggled with inconsistency and injury in his first season at the City Ground but he found his form in the spring, netting six times in his team’s final four games.

Awoniyi’s ability to deliver consistently makes him Forest's most reliable source of goals and he could be one to look out for again.

The 26-year-old, who has now scored or assisted in Forest’s last eight league games, has a real nous for popping up in the right place at the right time and can add to his league tally here.

Aina and Berge could be booked

Ola Aina was one of several new signings made by Cooper in the summer and the versatile defender has comfortably slotted into the Forest side.

The former Chelsea youngster is equally comfortable on both the right and left flanks but his smooth style with the ball is at odds with his disciplinary record.

Aina has been shown three yellow cards in as many matches and is a candidate to add to that tally in what promises to be an open game.

That could also be an issue for Burnley's Sander Berge, who was booked against Aston Villa in August and also in the EFL Cup tie between the sides.

The Norwegian is sure to be in the heart of the engine-room action against Orel Mangala and Ryan Yates and could be another card candidate.
