Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Sacramento Kings Prediction, Preview, and Odds

Free Daily NFL Lock Pick, Thursday December 14th: Las Vegas vs LA Chargers 8:15pm ET

The Oklahoma City Thunder are traveling to the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California to face the Sacramento Kings. OKC sits second in the Western Conference with a record of 15-7. Sacramento has a record of 13-9 and sits sixth in the Western Conference. Last season the Kings won all three of their games against the Thunder. The game is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. EST.

Thunder Producing on Offense

The Oklahoma City Thunder are traveling to Sacramento after their win on Monday against the Utah Jazz. This is the fourth win in their last five games. OKC is ranked fifth overall in points per game this season at 120.4. They are able to score this well due to their amazing shooting percentage this season. The Thunder are averaging a field goal shooting percentage of 49.2% placing them third overall and are averaging a three point shooting percentage of 39.1% placing them at the top of the league in that category.

On defense OKC has been playing well with an average points allowed per game at 112.8. The downside to their defense is their rebounding as they are the second worst team in the NBA in rebounding. To combat their lack of rebounding they are keeping their opponents from shooting quality shots to begin with. OKC's defense is ranked third in opponent field goal shooting percentage and 8th in three pointer opponent shooting percentage.

Sacramento Looking for Momentum

The Sacramento Kings are returning home after their loss on Tuesday to the LA Clippers with a final score of 99-119. The Kings have been inconsistent in their play recently with them not being able to string together a decent win streak since mid November. Sacramento on offense this season has been playing well with a points per game average of 116.3. The Kings are achieving this with their strength at the three point line. While they only have a three point shooting percentage of 36.1%, they are making up for it by being ranked third in the league in both three pointer attempts and three pointers made per game.

While they are producing on offense this season, the Kings are lacking on defense. Sacramento this season has averaged 116.9 points per game allowed ranking them 21st in the NBA. Where they are struggling defensively is their opponents' shooting percentages. Sacramento ranks 27th in opponent field goal shooting percentage and 25th in three pointer shooting percentage. When their opponents do miss the net, they are not able to retrieve the ball as Sacramento also ranks 27th in defensive rebounds.

Rating:

I am going with the Thunder in this matchup. Sacramento has had terrible shooting percentage defense this season and are up against one of the top teams when it comes to shooting percentage. The Kings are also giving up just as many points as they are making per game. Oklahoma City shouldn't have much issue against their defense and I am going to take them to win this game.

Take Oklahoma City on the moneyline.

Prediction: Oklahoma City Thunder ML (+112)

Full-Game Total Pick

Rating:

Both OKC and Sacramento are within the top eleven teams in the NBA when it comes to the pace of their game. Sacramento is averaging 100.3 possessions per game while the Thunder are averaging 100.9. Sacramento is also fourth in the NBA in Offensive Possession Length, so we know they are having short possessions. With that in mind, Sacramento should give the ball up more frequently and allow the Thunder to score more and show off their offense. I am going to go with the over in this game at 243.5.

I am siding with the over at 243.5.

Prediction: Over 243.5 ( -110 )
