Oklahoma State at Houston Prediction

The Houston Cougars will host the Oklahoma State Cowboys this weekend in Big 12 action from TDECU Stadium on ESPN2.

Oklahoma State Cowboys Preview

Oklahoma State moved to 7-3 after an embarrassing loss to UCF in Orlando, 45-3. The Cowboys never got off the bus last weekend, and they’ll look to show some fight here in Houston. The Oklahoma State offense is scoring 27.9 ppg, while passing for 225.0 ypg, rushing for 132.2 ypg, and converting 35.8% of their third downs.

Oklahoma State Player Notes

Alan Bowman leads Oklahoma State in passing with 2,139, and eight touchdowns to eight interceptions, after a tough three-pick outing versus UCF.

Sophomore back Ollie Gordon failed to score for the first time in six games in Orlando, but he still leads the Cowboys in rushing with 1,249 yards on 186 carries.

Tulsa native Brennan Presley leads the team in receptions (52) and receiving yards (467).

The Oklahoma St. defense is allowing 23.2 points per game.

Houston Cougars Preview

Houston comes in at 4-6 after losing to Cincinnati at home, 24-14. The Cougars let turnovers alter a golden opportunity at home, and they’ll look to avoid another meltdown here at home. The Houston offense is scoring 24.1 ppg, while passing for 276.3 ypg, rushing for 134.2 ypg, and converting 42.3% of their third downs.

Houston Player Notes

Donovan Smith leads TTU in passing with 2,404 yards, and 20 touchdowns to 10 interceptions, despite a rough three-turnover outing versus Cincinnati.

Freshman back Parker Jenkins leads the Cougs in rushing with 400 yards on 82 carries. and three scores after being games against Sam Houston and Texas Tech.

Sophomore wideout Samuel Brown leads Houston in receptions (58) and receiving yards (776).

The Houston defense has allowed 31.2 points per game.

Oklahoma State vs Houston Trends

OKST is 6-4 against the spread, with a 4-6 O/U record.

HOU is 5-5 ATS, with a 4-6 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Both teams went through turnover-filled outings last week, so look for Oklahoma State to lean on their strength here, and that’s their run game. Ollie Gordon is one of the more productive backs in the country, and I like Mike Gundy’s team turning this into a physical battle, and they hold the advantage there. The Under may be in play with both arms struggling, but let’s roll with a bounce back from Oklahoma State here.
