Olympic dream over for Cork Guard but there is always 2024

Christina was going to compete in her first-ever Olympics in 2020 but the competition was called off midway through the tournament. Christina is now a Garda Síochána member in Dungarvan.

Christina Desmond, 24, was in London last year, but the competition was called off midway through the tournament. She lost on a split decision to Angela Carini. Christina is a guard in Dungarvan and she is trying to focus on her training and her job. Christina has been on the international circuit since the age of 16. Cristina has a lot to prove as an amateur boxer and doesn't want to go professional. The plan is to take a few weeks of relaxed training before she gets back to full-on training. For the past 12 months, Christina and other Garda Síochána have had to adapt to a new environment.
