ONLY ON FOX23: Stitt open to legalizing sports betting in Oklahoma in 2023

Kevin Stitt is open to legalizing sports betting in Oklahoma in 2023. It is already legal in Kansas. Stit tried to legalize it two years ago but it was struck down in state court. The money raised by sports gambling in the state would be used for economic development and incentives to lure in larger companies. Some of the money would go toward education funding and other state purposes. The bulk of it would have been used to fund economic projects. In 2018, the U.S. Supreme Court struck the 1992 federal law that prohibited commercial sports betting in most states. Now Oklahomans can place bets on their favorite teams using apps geo-located in State of Kansas and pinging off of a Kansas cell phone tower.
