Oregon vs. Washington: Odds, picks, props and best bets

The 2023 Pac-12 Championship stands as one of the most compelling contests this weekend, in part because it’s a rematch. The Oregon Ducks and Washington Huskies face each other again, both seeking to earn the conference title and punch their ticket to the College Football Playoff.

Despite the lower ranking, sportsbooks favor Oregon in this matchup, with solid moneyline odds and nearly a double-digit spread. Here are odds and lines courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook:

The Washington Huskies come into this contest with a sterling 12-0 record this season, and those efforts have them holding one of the precious four spots in the College Football Playoff.

Of those 12 victories, perhaps the most impressive was the come-from-behind victory against Oregon 36-33 on October 14th. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. threw for 302 yards with four touchdowns in that game, and has had to bail out Washington a few times this season.

Washington enters the Pac-12 Championship game 2-0 in their previous efforts, but the Huskies haven’t won a conference title since 2018. The Huskies have a potent offense, averaging 38 points per game (11th) and putting up 468.1 yards per game (12th). The defense, however, is more middle-of-the-road, allowing 23 points per game (48th).

Despite the better overall record and the head-to-head win, Washington enters this contest as the underdog.

The Oregon Ducks have been on a roll since that mid-October letdown against Washington. Quarterback Bo Nix threw for 337 yards and two touchdowns in that ball game, and the Ducks offense outgained Washington 541-415, but Oregon lost still.

Since then, the Ducks have reeled off six straight double-digit wins and Nix is a Heisman frontrunner. Oregon scored at least 30 points in each of those victories and held four of their last five opponents to under 20 points. Now, the program looks to earn its third conference title in the last five seasons.

The Ducks fielded one of the top offensive units in the nation this season, averaging 45.2 points per game (2nd). Moreover, Oregon’s defense allows just 15.9 points per game (7th). This makes the Ducks one of only three FBS schools to rank in the top 10 in both offense and defense this year.

While Washington sports a 5-6-1 ATS record this season, Oregon checks in at 8-2-1. Their head-to-head matchup earlier this season was a push against the spread, but it hit the over at 67.5 points. Rome Odunze is the No. 1 target for the Huskies. The junior has 73 receptions for 1,326 yards and 13 touchdowns this season. His numbers put him fourth in yards and sixth in touchdowns in the nation. The Huskies love to pass and will have to if they’re down, as the sportsbooks suggest.

Plus, Odunze is from Las Vegas. The receiver is playing the biggest game of his career in his hometown with a chance to send his team to the College Football Playoffs. We also like Odunze: Over 5.5 receptions (-146, FanDuel) which is sitting at almost the exact same odds.
