Our World Champ Is Back In Town

Alistair Cohen is flying into Johannesburg today. He was in Dubai for six months. Dubai World Cup night was a highlight of his professional career. He has grown in stature and is regarded as one of the world's leading young commentators. Alistairs first commentary was at Flamingo Park on 16 August 2010. His first meeting was Jebel Ali at the end of October last year. It was tough settling in to a new country and adapting to the unique characteristics of new racecourses. The job was not easy. he was aware of synchronising the expectations of him and his personal hopes and dreams with the professional expectations.

The sports fanatic called 457 races that hosted 1527 horses.

Alistair is back in South Africa for the next five months. He is looking forward to seeing his fiancé, their furry kids and their family and friends. Alistairs is keen to call 3 to 5 meetings a month. In 2003 Alistsair won a commentating competition. He was 12 at the time. His father Dave was a keen racing fan. The first time Alisted watched a race he was at London News. Colin Aitken got his tape and called his school. David Raphael called him. It stuck in his head and he wanted to do it. Later Alistica will return to Dubai later this year.

The day London News won the QEII Cup on 14 April 1997 was the day he fell in love with racing.
