Pablo Carreno Busta vs Pedro Cachin Prediction and Odds: Australian Open

Pablo Carreno Busta gets his Australian Open campaign underway tonight as he faces off against Pedro Cachin. Although Carreno Busta is the clear favourite, there are still a couple of betting markets that a more than worth considering.

Pablo Carreno Busta vs Pedro Cachin – Match Predictions

Predicting tennis matches is never easy, particularly at grand slams where the pressure gets to the very best players in the world. Neither of these two players are most comfortable on a hard court and both of them are struggling a little for form. With that in mind, here are our predictions for the match:

Pedro Cachin to win a set – no

Pedro Cachin is a late bloomer in the tennis world. At the age of 27, this is his first-ever appearance in the main draw at Melbourne and he is certain to be nervous. Carreno Busta, on the other hand, has enjoyed a long and successful career on the ATP tour and will be far more comfortable going into the game. On top of that, Cachin is in miserable form and is in the middle of a five-game losing streak. If he was to win a set it would be a surprise.

Under 34.5 games

Again, this prediction follows the same logic as the first one. Carreno Busta is a former top-ten player and is still playing at an exceptionally high level. Although his favourite surface is clay, he is a two-time semi-finalist on the hard courts at the US Open so is no dummy on the surface. We are expecting the Spaniard to make light work of the Argentinian and 34 games should be more than enough.

Pablo Carreno Busta vs Pedro Cachin Preview

If this game was being played on a clay court then we would be looking forward to a classic. On a hard court, though, Carreno Busta is the more comfortable player. Let’s take a closer look at each player and what they bring to the table.

Pablo Carreno Busta

The world number 15 will perhaps feel like he should have done better at the Australian Open over the years. He is yet to make it past the fourth round, which he has reached on three separate occasions despite regularly having a good seed. His preparation for the tournament hasn’t been ideal – he has only played one game, which he lost to Soonwoo Kwon in three sets.

Pedro Cachin

Pedro Cachin currently sits at a career-best 54th in the world and a good run in Australia could see him break into the top 50. The Argentinian has a similar style to Carreno Busta with both players being well equipped to deal with long rallies from the back of the court. It is only his third appearance at a grand slam and he will be elated if he can make it into the second round.

Pablo Correno Busta vs Pedro Cachin Head to Head

The two players have played against each other twice before, both on a clay court and Cachin came out on top on both occasions. Although in their second encounter, he was a set down when the Spaniard was forced to retire through injury.
