Pacers vs. Pistons prediction and odds for Monday, Dec. 11

After losing in the In-Season Tournament championship game on Saturday night, the Indiana Pacers will head to the Motor City tonight to play the struggling Detroit Pistons. The Pistons are in the middle of a 19-game losing streak, and the Pacers would love to make it 20.

Indiana opened as an 8.5-point favorite over Detroit, but that number has dropped to 7.5 ahead of tonight's tip-off.

These two Central division rivals played each other during group play in the In-Season Tournament on Nov. 24. In that game, the Pacers won 136-113 as the Pistons had no answer for Myles Turner and Tyrese Haliburton.

Can the Pacers hand the Pistons their 20th consecutive loss this season? Or will the Pistons catch the Pacers slipping and shock the world in front of their fans?

Here are the odds and our best bet for Indiana-Detroit:

Detroit Pistons injury report

Indiana Pacers

Tyrese Haliburton: Haliburton has been one of the best point guards in the NBA this season and a contender for MVP. The 23-year-old floor general is averaging 26.9 points, 12.1 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game this season. He’s also shooting 52.5% from the field and 44.1% from three-point range.

Haliburton had a ridiculous run in the NBA’s In-Season Tournament that saw the Pacers get into the championship game against the Lakers but fell short by 14 points. The star point guard will look to continue his excellent play against a bad Pistons team on Monday night.

Detroit Pistons

Killian Hayes: The former first-round pick is beginning to play better over the last four games, which is a good sign for the Pistons. With Jalen Duren out, Detroit needs someone else to help Cade Cunningham carry the offense. Hayes could be that additional scorer for the Pistons.

This season, Hayes is scoring 10 points per game on 43.8% shooting from the field. However, in his last four games, the 6-foot-5 point guard is averaging 16 points per game on 58.3% shooting from the field. He’s also doing a solid job rebounding (5.0 rpg) and getting others involved (3.8 apg).

After only getting held to 104 points by the Lakers over the weekend, the Pacers cannot wait to play the Pistons tonight in the Motor City. Detroit is allowing 121.9 points per game over their last 10 games. The Pistons are also getting outscored by 17 points per game, which makes sense as to why they are underdogs again.

When these two teams played each other on Nov. 24, the Pacers crushed the Pistons 136-113 behind two good performances from Myles Turner (26 points and 10 rebounds) and Haliburton (26 points and 10 assists). I don’t see the Pistons having an answer for this duo, especially with Duren out because of an injury.

The Pacers should pick apart this Pistons’ defense that is ranked 24th in DRtg (118.2) and 23rd in opponents points per game allowed (118.2). Indiana is 5-3 straight up on the road this season and 4-3 ATS. Therefore, take the points with the Pacers as we fade Detroit, who will likely lose their 20th straight game.
