Padres vs Cleveland Odds, Picks, and Prediction 2023 Preseason

MLB offers another full slate of Spring Training MLB games today as teams continue to figure out who they want to be in the new season. One of the games features the San Diego Padres and the Cleveland Guardians, both of which are looking for renewed success this season.

Last season, these two met twice, and neither was a good day for the Padres. The Guardians won both games, breaking them by 3-1 and 7-0. Now, the Padres are hoping their recent acquisitions will give them an edge, although the Padres vs Guardians odds cast some doubt.

San Diego Padres vs. Cleveland Guardians Odds

For the Padres vs Guardians odds, oddsmakers don’t expect San Diego to be able to outperform Cleveland today. They’re giving the Guardians the advantage at around -130 to +110. The Padres are coming into the game off three consecutive losses, having racked up five losses in their last seven games.

However, both teams have found home plate during Spring Season on more than a few occasions. This would make the over a good option today when looking at the MLB picks

San Diego Padres vs. Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview

San Diego Padres

In forming the San Diego pick for the MLB schedule, it’s obvious the team hasn’t yet found its rhythm. Three straight losses were not what the Padres had in mind when they started to fill out their new roster.

San Diego has had the lead a couple of times already during Spring Training, but squandered it each time. A huge mistake by pitcher José López in the Padres’ most recent game pushed him down in the MLB player stats, giving him an ERA of 16.20.

The only thing that went right for San Diego was the performance of Rangel Ravello. However, his achievements weren’t enough to carry the team to a win, but they’ll help later on in the San Diego Padres standings.

Today, according to the MLB injury report, the Padres are still going to have to deal with a few absences. Joe Musgrove is still out due to his broken toe, and there’s still no word on when he may return.

In addition, Eguy Rosario remains benched because of his ankle injury. San Diego won’t be able to get any help from Fernando Tatis, Jr. yet, either, as he remains suspended until April.

Cleveland Guardians

The Guardians have found more success this Spring Training, winning six of their last 10 to eye a top spot in the MLB standings. Therefore, it’s likely they will put a lot of their heavier hitters in the game. In addition, like the Padres, they’ve been otherwise distracted, taking part in the World Baseball Classic.

In its last Cleveland Guardians game, Cleveland put up a solid performance against Team Mexico on Wednesday, easily defeating them 6-0. However, that came after two consecutive Spring Training losses against the LA Angels and the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Angels shut them out 6-0, not leaving a good precedent for the Guardians’ future success.

The Guardians come into the game relatively healthy. There’s a chance Enyel De Los Santos will stay out to give him more time to recover from a hamstring injury, and Cleveland doesn’t need to put more pressure on him today. In addition, Sam Hentges shouldn’t make an appearance until his shoulder heals. Cleveland has enough help in the pitching rotation that it can afford to give them some more downtime.

San Diego Padres vs. Cleveland Guardians Betting Picks

As MLB teams continue to feel out their players and strategies, this game doesn’t have a lot of significance for either the Padres or the Guardians. However, the Padres are desperate for a win to recover from their recent losses. They’ve invested a lot of money in their roster and want it to pay off.

It’s not likely going to happen today, and the Padres vs Guardians odds reflect it. Apart from being 0-6 in their last six Thursday games, the Padres are struggling to develop on offense. The Guardians have the advantage and, despite a few ineffective innings, will put up the runs to capture another victory.
