Patriot League Football FCS Quarterfinal Round Notebook presented by TIAA (12.8.22)

Holy Cross travels to South Dakota State for the NCAA DI FCS Championship Quarterfinal Round on Saturday at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium in Brookings, S.D. Live coverage on ESPN begins at noon ET. The winner of the game advances to the semifinal round to play the winner between William & Mary and Montana State.

Holly Cross Crusaders (12-0, 6-1 PL) and South Dakota State Jackrabbits (11-2, 8- 0 MVFC) are playing in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League Football FCS.

Holy Cross and South Dakota State will meet in the first round of the 2021 FCS playoffs. The last meeting between the two teams was on April 24, 2021. South Dankota State won the game 31-3.

Holy Cross is in the FCS playoffs. They are 2-4. The Crusaders will play South Dakota State in quarterfinals.

Patriot League teams are 9-15 in FCS Playoff games since 2010. Colgate leads the league with six postseason victories. Lehigh, Fordham and Holy Cross have all earned victories in the NCAA DI F CS Championship.

Holy Cross set two Patriot League postseason records in their 35-19 victory over New Hampshire. Sr. DB Walter Reynolds' two interceptions tied the League's single-game postseason record. The Crusaders’ defense held the Wildcats to 22 net rushing yards, breaking the record of a Lehigh defense that held Western Illinois to 32 rushingyards in 2000.

Holy Cross Sr. P Patrick Haughney is one of 10 semifinalists for the 2022 FCS Punter of the Year Award. The winner will be announced on December 13. Haugney averaged 40.95 yards per punt and had nine punts of more than 50 yards.
