Pelicans betting odds vs. Nuggets: New Orleans tries to stay red hot

The New Orleans Pelicans have won four in a row and hold the 10th seed in the Western Conference, just one game behind the Los Angles Lakers, who won last night behind 56 points from LeBron James.

The Pelicans have beaten some good teams in this stretch, including an evisceration of the Utah Jazz, who were the NBA’s hottest team.

Now they’ll head back on the road to take on the Denver Nuggets, who are also rolling, having won eight of their last 10 games.

The Nuggets will still be missing Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr, and Austin Rivers, Zeke Nnaji and Nikola Jokic are listed as questionable but all expected to play.

This will be another test for the surging Pelicans, who have been playing much better on the road lately behind a rejuvenated defense led by Herbert Jones.

The Pels have been the best defensive team in the NBA since the All-Star break, but it’s never easy stopping Jokic and Denver.

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Denver Nuggets: Odds, spread, over/under and best bets

According to WynnBET, New Orleans are 3.5 point underdogs on the road tonight vs. Denver.

Considering the home team is usually given a few points, the books see this one as about even.

The money lines are set at +135 for the Pelicans and -165 for the Nuggets. I would take the points in this one, as I think the Pelicans will keep it close either way, but it is hard to get a win on the road in Denver.

The over/under is a combined 227 points and I will continue to bet the under, as the Pelicans have been giving up fewer than 100 points per game in their winning streak and have shut down some of the NBA’s top offenses in the Suns, Jazz and Kings.

I like the Pelicans with the points and the under in what should be a well-played and competitive game.

CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram are pretty much can’t-miss daily fantasy plays right now and I will continue to have Jaxson Hayes as my low-cost option, as he has been playing solidly and has another promising matchup tonight.

It’s likely that Willie Green will have to lean on his bench a little more tonight in the thin air of Denver, so it might be worth taking a flyer on Naji Marshall or Tony Snell, both of whom have gotten most of the forward minutes off the bench.
