Pelicans vs. Kings prediction and odds for NBA In-Season Tournament Quarterfinals

The Sacramento Kings are riding high in the NBA In-Season Tournament, as they erased a 20-point deficit against the Golden State Warriors in the final game of group play to advance to the quarterfinals on Monday. 

They’ll host the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night, as the Pels come into this game off a loss to the Chicago Bulls on Saturday night. 

The Kings have been a much better team when De’Aaron Fox is healthy, going 9-4 in the 13 games he’s played and just 2-3 in the five he’s missed.

CJ McCollum: McCollum has played in two games since a lung injury, scoring 19 and 20 points in those contests. He should take some pressure off of Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson on offense, as the Pels need the extra playmaking and shot creation. 

Zion Williamson: The former No. 1 overall pick has taken a slight step back on offense in terms of his role, but he’s still averaging 23.5 points per game. Since Nov. 20, Williamson has been putting up 25.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game across seven contests. 

Sacramento Kings

De’Aaron Fox: Fox’s impact on the Kings is undeniable. He’s averaging over 30 points per game this season and it’s obvious that the team is much better offensively when he’s in the lineup. Sacramento has the No. 13 overall offensive rating this season.

 Malik Monk: The Kings may need a spark from their bench in this one, and Malik Monk has two 20-plus point games in his last three outings. He’s averaging 14.4 points per game but that number jumps to 17.6 points per game at home. 

So far this season, these teams have both been solid against the spread. New Orleans is 12-8-1 in 21 games and the Kings are 10-8 in 18 games. 

However, the Kings have gone just 3-3 ATS as home favorites so far this season. 

Could that be a cause for concern tonight? 

I lean with the Kings in this game because of some of their splits at home. Sacramento is 6-2 straight up at home this season, and Fox’s presence is huge for this team, as the Kings are 7-3 since he returned from an injury. 

This is a short spread, but we saw last season that Golden 1 Center can have one of the best home-court advantages in the NBA. 

Also, New Orleans has a minus-2.8 net rating on the road this season. 

I’ll take the Kings to advance to Las Vegas on Monday.
